含羞草视频 will welcome Molly Seremet as artist-in-residence for the spring semester of 2018. Seremet, an emerging American theatremaker from New York City, is set to direct CSM鈥檚 spring production.

鈥淢olly is an immensely talented and creative artist, and she will be leading us in an adaptation of the Willa Cather short story "The Enchanted Bluff鈥,鈥 says Dr. Christopher Krampe, CSM director of fine arts. 鈥淢olly will also be guiding students in the actual development of the play, including character lines and artistic themes throughout the production.鈥

Seremet is a professional actor, deviser, and director, most recently co-directing and appearing in Paul Menzer's new play, Robin Hood is Dead for the American Shakespeare Center's bi-annual Blackfriars Conference as well as directing and designing a small-scale five-handed Troilus and Cressida for Compass Shakespeare Ensemble. Her solo devised show Martin鈥檚 (words lost) premiered at London鈥檚 Battersea Arts Centre (London, UK) and has toured at home and abroad. She is the founder of Morse Code Theatre (Brooklyn, NY).

鈥淚 am excited for the opportunity to be a part of CSM's community and to develop a new performance in collaboration and conversation with the student body and surrounding community,鈥 says Seremet. 听鈥淎s a theatremaker and teacher, I am drawn to opportunities to work with new people in untraditional ways. I was thrilled CSM would be open to a devised performance and am excited about working with students to create their own piece of theatre from the ground up.鈥

Seremet holds a Master of Letters (MLitt) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Shakespeare and Performance from Mary Baldwin University (Staunton, VA) as well as a Master of Research (MRes) with Distinction in Performance and Creative Research from Roehampton University (London, UK).听

鈥淎s an ensemble, we will be working together to get inside of the world of Cather's short story and explore what that world means to us, right now, in our own time and place,鈥 adds Seremet. 鈥溾橢nchanted Bluff鈥 deals deeply in dreams and the habit dreams have of shifting as our lives go on. That seems like a wonderfully rich place to begin our work together as an ensemble.鈥

For students who enjoy theatre, or have always wanted to try, this is a great opportunity to start.听 For more information or to enroll in CSM鈥檚 Theatrical Production next semester, contact ckrampe [at] csm.edu.听
