OMAHA, Neb. 鈥 含羞草视频 (CSM) has selected Clare Dahlhoff of Vermillion, S.D., as a Marie Curie Scholar starting in the fall. Dahlhoff was presented with a scholarship check for $80,000 on Wednesday, April 27, by CSM alumna Amy Giorgio 鈥92. Dahlhoff receives the scholarship after standing out in academic talent and showing outstanding leadership service.

鈥淚n the time that I have known Clare, she has demonstrated herself as a determined, resilient and well-rounded student,鈥 said John Schloss, a chemistry teacher at Vermillion High School. 鈥淐lare鈥檚 amiable and reserved personality, resilience, and drive are a potent combination allowing her to overcome challenges and thrive in the face of adversity.鈥

含羞草视频鈥檚 prestigious Marie Curie Scholars Program, which is funded in part by the National Science Foundation, provides significant financial support and resources to outstanding young women pursuing study in STEM majors, such as biology, chemistry, human biology or math.

Marie Curie Scholars receive up to $20,000 annually for four years in gift aid. In addition to having access to substantial financial resources and facilities, participants also receive free tutoring, have opportunities for undergraduate research, and have access to top programs like the National Institute of Health and NASA research fellowships. Marie Curie Scholars also often attend and present at national conferences.

Dahlhoff, the daughter of Marie Dahlhoff, earns the scholarship after achieving several honors at Vermillion High School. Some of Dahlhoff鈥檚 academic and extracurricular accomplishments include:

  • Girls State Alternate (2021)
  • Grand Champion 4-H goat showmanship (2021)
  • Three varsity letters in volleyball (2019-2021)
  • Varsity letter in track (2021)

At CSM, Dahlhoff plans to major in biology starting in the fall of 2022. Located in Omaha, in the heart of Aksarben Village, 含羞草视频 uses initiatives like the Marie Curie Scholar Program to provide women from all backgrounds with access to an affordable, excellent college experience, career-driven coursework and lifelong leadership skills.
