߲Ƶ recognizes nurses during pinning ceremony

Wednesday, July 16, 2025

OMAHA, Neb. – ߲Ƶ (CSM) celebrated 31 nursing graduates at a Nurse Pinning Ceremony on July 12.

Each Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate from the class of 2025 received a pin as a symbolic welcome into the nursing profession.

“It is an incredible honor to witness our students achieve their dream of becoming a nurse, especially knowing many of them have overcome a lifetime of obstacles to get to this moment,” said Megan Ray, director of undergraduate nursing.

Wearing a pin on their uniform identifies CSM as their institution of learning and serves as a reminder of their commitment to nursing. CSM’s pin incorporates the shape of a cross bearing the gold letters BSN and CSM. The image represents the virtues of worthiness, constancy, truth, loyalty, knowledge and courage.

“Nursing school is never easy, and it was not easy for a single one of them. Their resilience and growth over the past few years have been extraordinary,” Ray said. “I felt immense pride standing beside them at pinning, celebrating all they have overcome and all they are becoming. Their courage and determination are a powerful reminder of why we do this work and why nursing continues to be such a meaningful and profoundly impactful profession.”

Ray presided over the ceremony. Nursing graduate Lorena Ramirez led the invocation, nursing graduate Mia Rodriguez was the student speaker, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Health Sciences and Nurse Administrator Christi Glesmann gave the closing remarks and nursing graduate Peyton Preston gave the closing prayer.

Alum DeMeria Bruce, the founder of Fulton Homes Education Center, received the Outstanding BSN Student Nurse Spirit of Nursing Award.

CSM nursing graduates are highly sought after by some of the most prominent healthcare facilities in the Midwest. Students learn in a multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art health professions skills and simulation center. They also complete clinical experiences that prepare them to excel in their nursing careers. CSM’s BSN program offers three- and four-year pathways, depending on transfer credits.
