Welcome Week

含羞草视频 Puts Out the Welcome Mat for Students

Monday, August 29, 2016

含羞草视频 welcomed new and returning students to campus last week for several days of social events and seminars designed to help them be successful in their coursework and relationships across campus.

鈥淎lthough Welcome Days is primarily for first-time students, everyone was welcome to join in the fun and kick-off a new academic year,鈥 said Director of Student Leadership and Organizations Kristofer Czerwiec.

A mix of movies, ice breakers, musical games, casino night, a service trip, and community dinners and snack breaks helped students relax and make new friends.

Sessions on safety and security, avoiding homesickness, and staying healthy while living in community along with faculty advising sessions helped students acclimate to campus life.

鈥淲e鈥檙e here to help students make positive choices and form friendships from the very beginning. We believe in the CSM student experience and want to share that pride from the start,鈥 said Czerwiec.

Although classes didn鈥檛 start until August 24, some student groups began moving onto campus weeks earlier. Resident Assistants and orientation staff were the first to arrive in early August, followed by soccer and volleyball athletes, Mothers Living & Learning participants, Physician Assistant Studies students, Marie Curie Scholars, and Movers & Shakers (move-in day helpers).

Students participating in CSMAdvantage, the University鈥檚 program to assist first-year students prepare for academic life, also arrived early.

CSMAdvantage focuses on the development of mind, body and spirit. Students learn how to identify their learning styles and maximize study skills and are introduced to the importance of goal setting and networking throughout the year-long program.
