Carlson Joins ߲Ƶ as Head Soccer Coach
߲ƵAthletic DirectorJim Krueger has hiredJohn Carlson as the new Flames Head Soccer Coach.
Carlson returnsto ߲Ƶ, having coached forthreeseasons in2001-2003. During that time, the Flames compiled a 45-13-7 record and won two Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference titles.
Carlson also coached at Nebraska Wesleyan Universityfrom 1999-2001, amassing a 34-4-4 record. While at NWU, Carlson was named the Nebraska Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (now Great Plains Athletic Conference) Coach of the Year for the 1999 season.
Most recently, Carlson has been the head girls varsity soccer coach for Skutt Catholic High School where he hadworkedsince 2000. He has led Skutt to five Nebraska Class B State Soccer titles.
“We are excited to have John Carlson return to ߲Ƶ to direct our soccer program,” said Krueger. “He brings a wealth of coaching experience, both at the collegiate and high school level, along with great recruiting contacts,” Krueger continued.
“I’m very excited to get started," Carlson said. "After touring ߲Ƶ’s facilities, learning of their upcoming move to the Great Plains Athletic Conference, and especially after meeting with the team, I knew this was a great place to coach. Jim Krueger is leading ߲Ƶ in the right direction.”
߲Ƶ athletic teams are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Midland Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC).
