º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ 2023 Spring Gala took place on Thursday, May 4 at the Metropolitan Club in New York City! This year’s event celebrated Scandinavian ties to both the visual and performing arts, and marked the 10th anniversary of º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ’s sponsorship of the Birgit Nilsson Award presented to an outstanding young artist annually at the Metropolitan Opera.
Highlights this year included a presentation of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Cultural Award to º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Advisory Trustee and former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, Hon. John L. Loeb Jr., recognizing his outstanding accomplishments as a collector of art and for his decades-long efforts to support and promote awareness and appreciation of Danish art in the U.S.; and presentation of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Gold Medal to the Metropolitan Opera, in recognition and appreciation of its long history of presenting, promoting, and mentoring musical artists from the Nordic countries.
